Guidelines and Policies

All artists must adhere to deadlines for registration and material requests for catalog and exhibits.

There is a $125.00 fee to participate ($99.00 for early bird registration). The entire fee goes to implementing and marketing the Capital Artists’ Studio Tour and to support its tactical programs run by the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento (CCAS). The fee is non-refundable and required for participation.

A limited number of hardship scholarships are available for artists who may need assistance. Please contact the Director at the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento to discuss your needs. All cases will be discussed and decided on a per-case basis. All decisions are final.

All studios must remain open and the artist must be present during the two days your studio is scheduled to be open. If you opt to open during the additional evening hours, you must remain open the entire shift, as scheduled.

Basic standards of cleanliness and safety must be observed. Be sure to clearly mark steps and other areas which could present safety concerns. Please recognize some visitors have allergies or fear of pets.

Post sufficient signage to assist visitors. Signs should be prominently and prolifically displayed.

CCAS assumes no liability for sales taxes or reporting of sales; it is your responsibility to deal with the requirements of the State board of equalization or any other applicable taxing agency.

CCAS will feature an exhibition of works by participating CAST Artists at the Center, from August 21, 2012 through September 16, 2012. Each artist is required to exhibit an original work which is representative of the art work he or she will exhibit during the Tour. Depending on the total number of works submitted, you may be asked to submit a smaller piece. All submitted work for the exhibition MUST be ready to hang (this includes all the hanging hardware, including the wire). Artists must concurrently submit an electronic image of the work. Contact CCAS for specifications for photographic images.

All participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento’s employees, volunteers, sponsors, agents, members, Board of Directors and the Capital Artists’ Studio Tour committee members harmless against any claims, demands, damages, fees, costs, and actions of any kind asserted by or on behalf of any third person(s) arising from participation in the Capital Artists’ Studio Tour.

All artists agree that failure to adhere to deadlines, meet requirements, and/or abide by guidelines will jeopardize future involvement in the Capital Artists’ Studio Tour and other events organized and produced by the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento.

Deadlines and events are subject to change by the sole discretion of the Capital Artists’ Studio Tour committee and/or by the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento’s Board of Directors.

CCAS reserves the right to remove any specific work or works from the Tour or the CAST Exhibition at any time, in its sole discretion.
